Week 2: EDUC 6005 Foundations: Early Childhood Studies.
My favorite quote is "Teachers Change The World One Child At A Time".
My favorite children's book is I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. This is my favorite book because it illustrates how a mother shows just how much she loves her son and is will sing to him and rock him to sleep every night no matter how old her son may get. This book illustrates a mother's love for her son and a son's love for his mother. I always cry at the end when the mom gets too old to pick up her son and rock him to sleep but the son returns the favor and pick up his mom and rocks her to sleep. :) I think this book sends a message that says no matter your age your parents will always look at you as their small innocent child.

I have vague memory about this book. If my memory is correct, there is a sentence in the book that is very touching. "As long as I am living, my baby you will be." I discovered this book when I visited my friend in Canada when I was in high school. It was one of the rare children books my friend still kept on her shelf in her teenage years. I was told it was a "must" collection for parents. The cover was pretty worn out. It was a copy that has been circulated among her family members. Stories of unconditional love between parents and children is always touching and appealing. Me too, I did cry for the ending. I am trying to get a Kindle copy now. (It is nice to read something touching besides the required readings of the course, ha!)
ReplyDeleteI love your best quote "Teachers change the world, one at a time". It gets me thinking that each child is different from the other with different learning levels and ways of learning which must be met by the teacher.
ReplyDeleteYes Toni you are right "As long as I am living my baby you will be.",is what the author (Munsch) express at the end of every page of the book. This is awesome that you friend has kept the book as a collection. It is a very family friendly book, I use it in my preschool classroom in the Lending Library Center as well as a Home School Connection. By sending this book home as a Home School Connection I hope to give my families the opportunity to share bond together and communicate while reading the story. After the parents read the story to their child the child and parent/guardian must illustrate a picture about what they liked about the book. I have received many positive responses, funny pictures and touching words about this book. Always when the children return this book they ask to borrow it again. :)
ReplyDeleteChidimma, I think it is very important to understand that each child is very different from one another, they have different learning styles and they have different learning skills. As a preschool teacher I believe we should always take the opportunity to assess and observe each child and work on helping build their strengths and help strengthen their weaknesses. If each teacher can find the opportunity to assist one child at a time and develop the necessary skills to advance to the next level we are changing the world one child at a time. ;)
ReplyDeleteNicole I love your quote. As teachers we spend a substantial amount of time with these children and as we understand parents are a child's first teachers, Early Childhood Teachers really help to shape and mold children into capable self regulating human beings.
ReplyDeleteThanks Colleen, I agree that teachers help shape and mold children for the better, with the collaboration between parents and teachers the children will have a greater chance of being more successful. Team work makes the dream work! :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteToday when the subject of early childhood education is discussed our thoughts go to grade school youngsters or children in kindergarten. However, the focus of early childhood education indeed considers all children from birth to the age of 5 years old. This is part of our government's findings about the impact of good early childhood education.See some more on:Look about: diploma of early childhood education and care
